1. Your files stay on this Mac
Recordings, transcripts, named participants, markers, technical records, preferences, vocabulary and text snippets are stored in the app's local directory. In the sandboxed app, this is inside the macOS-authorized container. Recordings and transcripts are not sent to the developer for transcription or speaker separation.
Optional enrollment of your own voice stores a local numerical representation for voice comparisons. Speaker separation and identification can be wrong and should be reviewed. The app does not provide cloud sync or cloud backup. macOS backups and exported files are managed outside Spokeleaf.
2. Recording, detection and permissions
Microphone and Mac audio require the corresponding macOS permissions. Recording begins through your action or, for web calls confirmed by the extension, after you explicitly choose and confirm automatic mode. Recording has a visible indicator. Pausing stops capture. You are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions before recording other people.
Meeting detection is optional, off initially, and configurable by service. For native Teams and Zoom apps, public activity signals and authorized window metadata produce suggestions; they do not start recording on their own. Accessibility is not used to read conversations and screen images are not captured.
The optional Chrome/Edge extension checks call controls only on meeting sites you permit. It sends the service, sanitized title, state and a random session identifier to Spokeleaf on this Mac. It does not extract chats, captions or participant lists, or send the full meeting URL. The bridge uses 127.0.0.1 with explicit pairing and revocable tokens; it provides no transcript-reading API.
Mac audio capture is per application. In a browser, this can include other tabs. Silence, muting or loss of observation does not prove a call has ended; check the recording and stop it manually if needed. Detection can stop only a recording it started, according to your selected setting.
Input Monitoring is used for the global shortcut. Permission to post events enables inserting dictated text in the selected field. The app does not keep a history of typed keys. Starting with your Mac is optional.
3. Model downloads
Initial model preparation downloads weights and configuration from a public Hugging Face repository and its delivery infrastructure. The service receives connection details such as your IP address and the requested file. Audio and transcripts are not sent in this download.
Spokeleaf does not sign in to Hugging Face or automatically use credentials for that account. File revisions and integrity are checked, and download-client telemetry is disabled. A fully downloaded model is reused locally.
4. AI assistants and local MCP
Assistant access is off initially. In addition to allowing reading globally, you must share each meeting individually. A compatible local client starts the stdio MCP process on this Mac. Spokeleaf has no online intermediary MCP service.
The three read-only tools can provide the title, date, text, utterances, names, timestamps and events of shared meetings. Personal dictation, raw audio, voice profiles and credentials are not exposed through these tools. Every call checks the permissions again.
The AI client may send queried excerpts to its own cloud provider, under your account and that service's policies. Making a meeting private or turning reading off blocks new queries; it does not erase copies already received by the client or provider.
Connection setup is initiated by you. Spokeleaf does not require its own account for transcription. The local record of a successful query contains the time, tool, transport and success indication, not the question or queried text.
5. Deletion, retention and recovery
You can delete library items and their local files, and remove your voice profile. Audio retention deletes old audio when you change the retention period; transcripts and records remain. In this version it is not an automatic background schedule.
Exports and copies made outside the app remain at their selected destinations. Interrupted recordings may be recovered from chunks that reached disk; recovery cannot guarantee restoring a final portion that was not persisted.
6. Diagnostics and support
The app has no advertising, analytics or automatic crash-report transmission to the developer. Local logs may contain errors and file paths. If you contact support, review the material you send and avoid including recordings, transcripts, passwords or keys unless needed.
Support receives the information you choose to send, such as your email address, problem description and selected attachments, to respond to your request. Requests concerning information sent to support can be made through this page's privacy contact.
7. Purchases and independent services
Mac App Store purchases and receipts are processed by Apple according to the commercial model of the offered version. Spokeleaf does not receive your payment-card details. AI clients, model repositories, meeting services and backups have their own policies; review them before sharing content.
8. Contact and updates
Use the privacy contact on this page for questions, corrections or requests related to information sent to the app publisher. You manage the local library on your Mac; the developer has no remote access to it.
Relevant policy changes will appear on this page with an updated effective date. Features that require new permission should request it before use.
9. About this website
This website presents the product and its guides. It has no meeting-upload form and does not query your transcripts. The interactive illustration uses fictional examples only and runs in the browser.
